Duke Energy Foundation Surprises Students and Staff With a Mid-Semester Gift

Art materials, ear buds, and batteries are some of the many new supplies students are enjoying at the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind. The supplies were purchased through a $700 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation.

“New supplies were a great mid-semester surprise for our students and teachers,” said Jolene Madison, director of education programs. “Our principals appreciated the opportunity to obtain additional supplies as well as some of their wish-list items including a laminator, visual timer, and new earbuds.”

The  request for grant funds was initiated by the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind Foundation. “The Duke Energy Foundation has an excellent reputation for changing the lives of individuals and, in turn, changing communities,” said Samuel Hook, executive director of the school foundation. “We were honored to be selected by this outstanding organization.”

In her congratulatory letter, Cari Boyce, president of the Duke Energy Foundation, said, “It’s an honor to be part of many programs and organizations that make our community such a vibrant place to live and work. At Duke Energy, we know that the investments we make today can make a difference in the years to come.”
