Day 19

Day 19

July 28th 2024

For more than a decade, the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind Foundation has received project grant support from ScanSource Charitable Foundation (ScanSource), the non-profit arm of ScanSource company, located in Greenville. Throughout these years, we have been blessed with over $58,000 in grant funding from this wonderful partner. Their footprint of generosity has left an indelible mark for good among current and former students.

The programs funded by ScanSource are quite diverse. In 2017, ScanSource supported our innovative Einstein’s Workshop program which created a Makerspace for students to use their creativity in science-based projects.  In 2020, they supported our I Love Reading Rewards program to put a Bookworm Vending Machine (BVM) in each of our 4 schools and the library. ScanSource was a funder for the BVM at our Applied Academic Center. Students who reached certain goals were given tokens in order to pick a book to add to their home libraries. In 2022, ScanSource provided support for our Lighting the Fire program through which we built a state-of-the-art adaptive Chemistry Lab at the School for the Blind. As a result, our visually-impaired students are now able to take Chemistry and other lab science courses which meet state curriculum standards. In 2023, we were delighted to receive ScanSource’s support of Encoding Success – an expansion of our award-winning robotics program at the School for the Deaf. The future of our students is bright because of the unwavering support of ScanSource!
