Valerie Manatis Barnet has been involved at SCSDB for over 30 years and she rejoined the Board in 2020. Valerie is married to Bill and they have three grown children, and two grandchildren. Valerie is a retired theatre teacher from Spartanburg Day School (grades 8 through 12) where she directed 2-3 productions a year. Valerie is the cofounder and board president of the nonprofit, Hub City Animal Project, which empowers local animal welfare organizations that are proactively working to address the root causes of animal homelessness in Spartanburg County. Valerie also serves on the boards of Sidewalk Hope, Cleveland Opportunity Foundation, and the Advisory board of the Spartanburg Academic Movement. Outside of family and friends, Valerie’s greatest joy is working with the children at Cleveland on their musical theatre production.
