Day 41

Day 41

August 19th 2024

Partnerships with community members are just as important to our students as partnerships with foundations and corporations.  In 2018 we were thankful to be the recipient of an Eagle Scout project.  Alexander Matthew Forrest from Boy Scout Troop 1 built a storage shed for our students at Cedar Springs Academy.  This shed, which is still in use today, stores gardening tools close to the gardening area so that our students have easy access to the tools they need.  Our students have had a lot of fun getting their hands dirty while also learning about agriculture and science.

Pictured here is Alexander Forrest receiving the Hearts and Hand Award from the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind for his project.  Samuel Hook, Executive Director of the SCSDB Foundation, is presenting Alexander the award.
