Today the SCSDB Foundation welcomes over 60 participants to the 12th Annual Bobby Dobson Memorial Aim High Let’em Fly Sporting Clays Tournament at Cleghorn Gun Club in Rutherfordton, NC. The Cleghorn Gun Club is part of the Tryon Resort properties which includes Tryon International Equestrian Center. The event is named after one of the school’s most beloved Chairman of the Board of Commissioners for the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind and generous benefactor of the Foundation. Former Chairman of the Foundation Board of Trustees, Dr. John Dunbar, chairs the volunteer committee of local sportsmen who make this event successful year after year.
The SCSDB Foundation is most grateful for all of the generous support this event receives from community members who come to the event to support our students, enjoy the friendships and fellowship and experience the challenge of an outstanding sporting clays venue. The day begins with registration and a bountiful breakfast from Bojangles. The fun begins at 9:00 when there is a shotgun start for the challenge to begin.
Following everyone completing the course, a BBQ lunch is served and the winners of the tournament announced. The Foundation is thankful for all of the community members who have supported this event over the years. Through their participation and support, this event has raised over $330,000 for the benefit of our students at SCSDB.
