Day 8

Day 8

July 17th 2024

Barbara Harter Rippy has a long-time supporter of the students at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind. She has been generous to a fault and has created the Barbara Rippy General Store Fund to provide anything our students might need including but not limited to shoes, clothes, toiletries, and other supplies.  The fund she established also helps provide experiences via educational field trips for our students.  Mrs. Rippy has donated to a number of causes in Union and Spartanburg Counties as well as causes across the state. Dr. Gene Rippy was a pharmacist and owned a pharmacy in Cowpens and later the City of Union.  As a Lions Club member, Mrs. Rippy donated generously to the campaign to build a new playground at the School for the Blind.  She also established a scholarship for students at the School for the Blind who plan to attend college in a STEM field.  Mrs. Rippy is in her 90’s but has the energy of a much younger woman.  We always enjoy when Mrs. Rippy is able to join us on campus for events.  We are so thankful for her continued love and support.
